The ongoing Road to UFC 2 tournament returned on Sunday, with two episodes airing back-to-back, comprising the semifinal round of the four-weight class trial.
Road to UFC 2 Episode 5 consisted of five fights — semifinal action for the featherweight and flyweight divisions, plus a featured flyweight bout to round out the event. Some familiar names adorned the card, including Li Kaiwen, a Chinese featherweight who had a 12-fight run for ONE Championship from 2014 to 2021.
After missing all of 2022, he returned to defeat Lu Kai in the opening round of Road to UFC 2, and was now two wins away from earning a spot in the UFC — paired up with Japan’s Kouya Kanda.
Seung Guk Choi, who went to the flyweight final in the first Road to UFC tournament before losing to Hyun Sung Park, was also back. Next up for Choi was China’s “Little King Kong,” Jiniushiyue.
Road to UFC 2 Episode 5 goes down Sunday, August 27, 2023 kicking off at 4AM ET. The event airs live on UFC Fight Pass; full results can be found below.
