Boston, MA – Now that he’s secured his 5th consecutive victory in the promotion at UFC 292 on Saturday night middleweight Andre Petroski hopes that a matchup with Bo Nickal is in the near future.
“Bo can only run for so long,” Petroski told Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“There’s other guys thought that I want in the meantime. I want to get in the cage as often as possible. I don’t do well with long layoffs. It’s been 8 months since I fought and that wasn’t the UFC’s fault. They booked me and I had to pull out with an injury. Nonetheless I want to fight as often as possible.”
Active fighters are something the UFC loves to have on the roster and Petroski hopes to be one of those fighters.
“I want to be active. I don’t like going through the jitters. If I fight once or twice a year I have to go through it again,” he said.
With his eyes on fighting sooner than later Petroski offered some dates for potential fights.
“Either the November card or December,” said Petroski.
The one guy he hopes for though is still Bo Nickal.
“It was personal when he said, ‘Oh no one’s got 10% of my grappling’. Then everyone was saying, you know, nobody wants to fight Bo Nickal,” Petroski said.
“What are we talking about here? I’ve asked for him three times. So it was but now, for me it’s always been ‘I’m a grappler and he’s a Dan Hodge trophy winner. So for me that’s a Heisman of wrestling. That’s something I want a piece of.”
