One of the most successful heavyweights outside of the UFC returned to action on Saturday at KSW 84 in Gdynia, Poland.
Phil De Fries was nearly an afterthought in the heavyweight division after a brief UFC stint from 2011 to 2013 saw him go 2-3 with that promotion. But after overcoming severe anxiety, the British star has come storming back, winning eleven straight fights — capturing the KSW heavyweight title and defending it an inspiring eight times.
Looking to extend that title defense streak to nine, De Fries was set tot take on Poland’s own Szymon Bajor at KSW 84 on Friday. Bajor had won his last four fights, and had competed for the likes of RIZIN Fighting Federation and the PFL.
Also in action on Saturday, UFC vet Darko Stosic was paired up with Stefan Vojcak, while in the co-main event, former KSW bantamweight champ Sebastian Przybysz took on Islam Djabrailov.
