Two Dana White’s Contender Series alumni faced off on the main card of UFC Vegas 75 as Manuel Torres took on Nikolas Motta.
Torres would be competing in his second UFC fight after winning his debut while Motta would be in his third, with a 1-1 record in his first two.
The pair felt each other out on the feet to start the contest, trading leg kicks. After one minute the first big exchange took place in the pocket where Motta rocked Torres. Torres recovered, but was clearly less confident for a bit. However, soon after that Torres pressed Motta back to the fence and landed a massive step-in elbow which knocked Motta out cold. Follow-up shots were not needed.

The Mexican fans at the Apex were beyond excited for this victory as Torres improved to 2-0 in the UFC with two first round knockouts. After a big year for Mexican MMA with three fighters touching UFC gold, the sport in Mexico seems to be on the rise; Torres continued that trend tonight. As Joe Martinez announced his victory, Torres went over to his opponent on the stool to check on him, showing graciousness in victory.
