A surging flyweight talent from Kazakhstan is set to join the UFC as part of the promotion’s August 5 Fight Night event.
Asu Almabaev (17-2), who has not lost a fight since 2017, will face Ode Osbourne (12-5, 1NC) at the event, which does not yet have a location, venue, or broadcast plan officially announced.
Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Osbourne, announced the news on Friday.
Almabaev’s only two losses came early in his career, against Tagir Ulanbekov (who would go on to land in the UFC himself) and Mehman Mamedov. He has not lost since, compiling a 13-fight win streak including a victory over UFC vet Zach Makovsky.
Eight of those 13 victories came inside the distance.
Osbourne will be looking for his second straight win, after securing a split decision over “Inner G” Charles Johnson last time out. With Johnson stepping into the fight on short notice, the bout was moved to a 130lb catchweight.
Osbourne is 4-3 in the promotion overall.
