Canadian Tanner Boser will be fighting out his contract in his next bout.
The former heavyweight, who recently dropped to 205lbs, will face Aleska Camur at a UFC Fight Night event on August 5, 2023. While no location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced, Nashville, TN has been in the mix in terms of a landing spot for the card.
Boser confirmed on Thursday that he would be fighting out his contract in his next bout.
“Thank you Mick Maynard, Sean Shelby, Dana White, and UFC for allowing me to fight my last fight remaining on my contract,” Boser wrote on social media, tagging all involved. “I hope to win and re-sign with UFC immediately afterwards. I appreciate the opportunity. Let’s go!”
News of the match-up was first reported by MMA Junkie. The bout will be contested at light heavyweight, with Boser looking for his first win at 205 under the UFC banner. He did picked up a win in a 2018 light heavyweight scrap outside the promotion.
Boser went 4-4 in the UFC’s heavyweight division after joining the promotion in 2019. He’s shared the cage with the likes of Ciryl Gane and Andre Arlovski, competing as an undersized heavyweight in many of his fights.
“Bulldozer,” a two-time Unified MMA heavyweight champion, dropped to light heavyweight in his last fight, only to be stopped by Ion Cutelaba. He’s now 1-4 in his last five, and has lost two straight.
Camur (6-2) is coming off back-to-back losses, and has not fought since June of 2021.
