Former UFC lightweight Alex Da Silva will look to return to the win column at UAE Warriors 42 later this month.
Da Silva (21-5) will fight Ali Mashrapov (13-11) in a 160lb catchweight affair at the event, which is set to take place on May 20, 2023 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Joining Da Silva vs. Mashrapov at UAE Warriors 42 will be a preliminary card bout featuring Brazil’s Renan Oliveira (8-0), making his promotional debut against the returning Amru Magomedov (5-0) of Russia.
A source familiar with the situation advised Cageside Press of the bookings on Tuesday. The promotion has yet to officially announce the match-ups.
Da Silva made his UAE Warriors debut in his last fight, dropping a split decision to Makkasharip Zaynukov. The Brazilian competed for the UFC from 2019 to 2022, posting a 1-3 record after sharing the cage with the likes of Brad Riddell and Joe Solecki, among others.
Prior to his UFC stint, Alex Da Silva was well-traveled on the regional scene, making stops in Brave CF, SBC, and Aspera FC, posting a 13-0 record in the latter.
Mashrapov will enter the fight having posted a 2-1 record in his last three fights, all of which have come under the WEF banner.
Featherweight Oliveira has previously competed for Jungle Fights, Shooto Brasil, and Future MMA, while Magomedov returns to the promotion after a stop in Eagle FC. The pair meet in a lightweight match-up.
UAE Warriors 42 airs live on UFC Fight Pass on May 20, and is part of a double-header weekend for the promotion, with UAE Warriors 41: Arabia taking place on May 19.
