Las Vegas, NV – Fighting in what is assumed to be heavyweight title eliminator UFC’s Sergei Pavlovich says people are in for a show when he takes on Curtis Blaydes at the UFC APEX on Saturday night.
“I think it’s going to be a great show. I think it’s going to be a great fight. There’s going to be two fighters in there that are not going to be willing to back down. Nobody’s trying to give the other person a chance. Everybody’s fighting for the same goal. ,” Pavlovich told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.
“Everybody who tunes in is in for the show.”
Pavlovich (17-1) holds one loss on his record against Alistair Overeem. Overeem, who isn’t known for his wrestling, scored a trip takedown on Pavlovich in that fight before ultimately finishing the Russian.
Blaydes, obviously, has much better wrestling than Overeem and is more than likely to use it in the main event on Saturday night.
“What can I say about it? We’ll have a fight. We’ll see if he can take me down or not,” Pavlovich said.
Pavlovich is in a UFC main event for the first time in his career. The Russian doesn’t take it lightly as he knows these opportunities are earned and hard to get.
“This is what we work for. This is what you work for your entire life. You go into the fact that you’re going to be one day in the lights of the main event. This is what you’re working for. That means everything that I’ve done, everything that I’ve done up to now, has paid off,” he said.
“I feel great about this. I don’t feel pressure. I feel like this is what’s supposed to be happening.”
