May’s UFC 288 Pay-Per-View card has found a home.
After trips to London and Miami in March and April, the May 6, 2023 PPV event is expected to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Cageside Press confirmed the location with a source familiar with the promotion’s plans following an initial report by writer/podcaster Ryan Frederick on Wednesday.
The UFC last visited New Jersey in 2019, hitting up the very same venue for a Fight Night event featuring Colby Covington vs. Robbie Lawler as the headliner. Nearby Atlantic City, NJ was hit up in 2018, where a Fight Night card saw Kevin Lee vs. Edson Barboza headlining.
The last numbered event to take place in New Jersey was UFC 169: Barao vs. Faber 2 in 2014.
Thus far, no main event has been officially announced for UFC 288, and the promotion has yet to officially announce the card/location. However, both Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo recently confirmed they had agreed to a bantamweight title fight at the event.
The following match-ups have been reported for the card:
Aljamain Sterling (c) vs. Henry Cejudo — for the UFC bantamweight championship
Khaos Williams vs. Rolando Bedoya
Johnny Muñoz Jr. vs. Daniel Santos
Charles Oliveira vs. Beneil Dariush
Bryce Mitchell vs. Jonathan Pearce
Marina Rodriguez vs. Virna Jandiroba
Andre Petroski vs. Armen Petrosyan
