UFC Vegas 70, the latest Fight Night offering from the promotion, was notable for a handful of reasons. Aside from the light heavyweight main event between Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann, both ranked inside of the division’s top 10, the card also saw the return of The Ultimate Fighter 23 strawweight winner Tatiana Suarez.
Suarez has long been considered a championship-caliber fighter. But since winning the show in 2016, Suarez had fought just four times. Those wins, over ex-champ Carla Esparza and current flyweight contender Alexa Grasso, were proof positive the Suarez was everything fans had hoped.
Injury, however, had badly hampered her career. Her neck, he knee, Suarez just couldn’t seem to catch a break. When she returned to action in a flyweight bout against Montana De La Rosa on Saturday, it was her first fight in well over three years.
Also of note on Saturday, UFC Vegas 70 would be the last fight fans would see of the UFC Apex for a while. Starting with UFC 285 on March 4, there would be six solid weeks away from the Apex, including stops at the T-Mobile Arena and Theatre at Virgin Hotels (both still in Las Vegas, but venues that would be packed with fans), then the O2 Arena in London, and stops in San Antonio, Miami, and Kansas City.
Following UFC Vegas 70 on Saturday, tune in for the post-fight press conference to keep up with all of the night’s developments. A live stream is available in the embed above.
