UFC Vegas 69 arrives this weekend, a Fight Night card that became little more than an afterthought when it’s original main event, Marlon Vera vs. Cory Sandhagen, was pushed back to UFC San Antonio in March.
That turn of events saw Erin Blanchfield’s fight with Taila Santos promoted to the headlining spot (and adjusted to a five-round affair as a result). But when Santos pulled out to the bout due to an undisclosed injury, it was Jessica Andrade stepping up.
The former women’s strawweight champ added some much-needed star power to UFC Vegas 69. Whether that would be enough to lure in fans growing weary of events held at the UFC Apex, without a roaring crowd present, remained to be seen (and luckily, through March to mid-April, the promotion will be exclusively on the road).
Also on the card, veteran Jim Miller and light heavyweight contender Ovince Saint Preux.
