Perth – UFC lightweight Jamie Mullarkey takes on an undefeated prospect in Francisco Prado at UFC 284 on Saturday night.
Mullarkey (15-5) fights on home soil once again in what’s expected to be a packed and loud crowd in Perth.
“At this point I’m just excited. All things have gone well, we’re ready to go, we’re in shape, and it’s time to go now,” Mullarkey told reporters on Wednesday.
Prado (11-0) comes into UFC 284 with every win coming by finish.
“He’s good man. I’ve watched a couple of the fights. He’s well-rounded. He’s going to be dangerous, young, hungry. Should be good,” Mullarkey said.
With 100% finish rate for Prado it sets the stage for a dangerous fight for Mullarkey, but also brings some advantages for the veteran fighter against a young up-and-comer.
“I remember that feeling. I was 9-0 and when I fought Alex Volkanovski and I ran into a brick wall there. That said this weekend will be similar. He’s super dangerous. The dangerous think about someone who hasn’t lost a fight is they’ve got that self belief that every single fight’s going to go that way,” said Mullarkey.
“Could be dangerous for me, but also dangerous for him. I’m just going to look to show the levels, and just show that he’s not quite ready for my backyard.”
As far as a prediction for the fight?
“We’re going to have to wait and see,” Mullarkey said with a smile.
“No predictions here.”
