Poland’s KSW kicked off its 2023 with KSW 78 on Saturday.
Taking place at the Netto Arena in Szczecin, Poland, KSW 78 brought with it a rematch years in the making between The Ultimate Fighter winner Kendall Grove, and promotion mainstay Michal Materla.
The pair’s first meeting has been billed as the bloodiest in KSW history, and the promotion was no doubt hoping that lightning would strike twice when it came to the rematch. For Grove, nearing the end of his lengthy MMA career, it was a change for revenge, after Materla claimed victory in the first fight. It was also Grove’s first fight since 2019, when he defeated Anthony Ruiz, a Strikeforce, WEC, and Bellator MMA veteran.
Also featured on the first event of the year for KSW is former welterweight champ Borys Mankowski, as well as former lightweight title challenger Roman Szymański, looking to build on a three-fight win streak.
