Fresh off a grappling victory against former two-time UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas, Canada’s Gillian Robertson is headed back to the octagon.
Robertson (11-7) will face Piera Rodriguez (9-0) at a UFC Fight Night event on April 15, 2023. News of the flyweight match-up was first reported by Fight Bananas.
Cageside Press confirmed the booking with a source familiar with the situation on Friday.
Aside from besting Namajunas in grappling, Robertson is 2-1 in her last three fights, with wins over Priscila Cachoeira and Mariya Agapova. “The Savage” holds the record for most finishes and most submissions in the UFC women’s flyweight division history. She is also tied with Katlyn Chookagian for most fights in the weight class.
Venezuela’s Rodriguez remains undefeated as a pro, with two wins inside the octagon to date. She made her debut last April, earning a unanimous decision against Kay Hansen. A second decision win followed, opposite Sam Hughes.
Rodriguez won her way into the UFC on the 2021 edition of Dana White’s Contender Series.
