Billy Quarantillo is getting a solid step up in competition this April.
Quarantillo (17-4) is set to face Edson Barboza (22-11) in a featherweight contest at a UFC Fight Night event on April 15, 2023.
“Billy Q” announced the news Wednesday, initially via OnlyFans, and later on other social media platforms.
“It is official, I just got a contract, I will be fighting Edson Barboza on April 15 for one of the UFC fight nights,” Quarantillo said in a video statement. “From what I’ve heard, it’s not going to be at the Apex, it’s going to be at an arena, and it’s going to be the co-main event.”
That’s big news for Quarantillo, who has posted a 5-2 record inside the octagon thus far. The 34-year old most recently finished Alexander Hernandez by TKO at UFC 282 last month.
Barboza remains ranked at featherweight, sitting in the #14 position in the UFC’s official rankings. The Brazilian has lost two straight, and is 2-5 across his last seven fights. At 36, he’s just two years the elder of Quarantillo, but has been with the promotion since 2010.
The UFC’s April 15, 2023 Fight Night show does not have a location, venue, or broadcast plan officially announced. The following match-ups have been reported for the event so far:
- Martin Buday vs. Jake Collier
- Bruna Brasil vs. Denise Gomes
- Dustin Jacoby vs. Azamat Murzakanov
- T.J. Brown vs. Bill Algeo
- Edson Barboza vs. Billy Quarantillo
