UFC 285 has added a women’s flyweight fight to its line-up next March.
Amanda Ribas (11-3) is set to face Viviane Araujo as part of the Pay-Per-View event on March 4, 2023. Ribas confirmed the news on her Instagram Story, following an initial report by Dama de Ferro MMA.
The Las Vegas-based card is the first of two numbered events in the month of March for the promotion, with UFC 286 taking place in London, England on March 18.
Ribas, 29, was supposed to fight Tracy Cortez at UFC Orlando earlier this month, only for the fight to fall through at the eleventh hour. An undisclosed medical condition involving Cortez was to blame, and it appears the organization is moving on from the match-up.
In her last three fights, Ribas is 1-2, with losses to Marina Rodriguez and Katlyn Chookagian sandwiching a win over Invicta FC champ Virna Jandiroba.
Araujo, 36, is also 1-2 in her last three fights, with a loss to shared opponent Chookagian and most recently, to Mexico’s Alexa Grasso. Her most recent win came against Andrea “KGB” Lee in May. A fellow Brazilian along with Amanda Ribas, Araujo has seen her last seven fights, win or lose, go the distance, after making her promotional debut with a knockout of Talita Bernardo.
UFC 285 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The following match-ups have been reported for the card to date:
- Jessica Penne vs. Tabatha Ricci
- Da’Mon Blackshear vs. Farid Basharat
- Amanda Ribas vs. Viviane Araújo
