The PFL will close out its 2022 season in familiar territory, returning to the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden for it’s World Championship show on November 25.
Promotion officials announced the location for the season closer on Wednesday via press release. While the date of the 2022 World Championship had been public knowledge for some time, the location was kept under wraps.
The event will be a first for the promotion, as the main card will air on ESPN+ PPV.
The card will feature all six million dollar finals, capping off this year’s Professional Fighters League season. It will also boast a featherweight featured fight between recent free agent signings Shane Burgos and Marlon Moraes, both of whom were competing for the UFC earlier this year.
Among the key match-ups featured on Nov. 25, Kayla Harrison will look to three-peat as PFL women’s lightweight champion when she takes on a familiar foe in Larissa Pacheco. Olivier Aubin-Mercier will look to secure the lightweight title on the men’s side in a fight with fellow UFC ex-pat Stevie Ray, while Brendan Loughnane has a chance to win it all against Bubba Jenkins.
The Harrison fight, and Burgos vs. Moraes, are expected to be part of the PPV portion of the card. A full line-up and bout order is expected at a later date.
“I am excited to announce the 2022 PFL World Championship is set for Friday, November 25 and the stage doesn’t get any bigger than ESPN+ PPV in primetime staged live from New York City at Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden,” PFL CEO Peter Murray was quoted as saying in Wednesday’s release. “This special pay-per-view holiday event is stacked with star talent and championship drama as PFL will deliver fans six world title fights with six belts and $6 million on the line headlined by undefeated superstar Kayla Harrison in the biggest fight of her career against Larissa Pacheco, who has five consecutive first round knockouts coming into this epic season finale. The PPV card will also feature “Hurricane” Shane Burgos and Marlon Moraes facing each other in their PFL debuts.”
