Saturday’s BKFC London card was almost as notable for who wasn’t on the card, as for who was on it.
In the days leading up to the event, news broke that Paige VanZant had been removed from the event. A seriously “pissed off” VanZant would later release a statement saying that she had not withdrawn from the fight, and had been pulled a week out after going through an entire fight camp and weight cut.
“I AM PISSED OFF AND HEARTBROKEN! I WORKED MY F*CKING ASS OFF TO BE PULLED A WEEK BEFORE I AM SUPPOSED TO COMPETE!!!!!” a clearly emotional VanZant wrote on social media.
The loss of VanZant vs. Charisa Sigala left the BKFC London card with a single marquee caliber fight. That bout found Bellator standout Michael Page, on loan from the MMA outfit, up against former UFC star “Platinum” Mike Perry.
