Former light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes will make his long-awaited return to action at UFC 281 this November.
Reyes (12-3) will face Ryan Spann (20-7) at the Pay-Per-View event on November 12, 2022. News of the match-up was first reported by MMA Junkie. Reyes subsequently confirmed the booking on social media.
“The Devastator” will look to snap a three-fight losing streak in the fight, and stave off a potentially devastating fourth straight loss. In his past three outings, Reyes has fallen to Jon Jones, Jan Blachowicz, and Jiri Prochazka — though it’s worth noting that many felt Reyes got the better of Jones, and all three opponents were current, former, or future champs.
Prior to his recent setbacks, Reyes had started his career a perfect 12-0. He has not competed since his May 2021 loss to Prochazka.
Spann, a former LFA light heavyweight champion, will enter the fight with Dominick Reyes off a win over Ion Cutelaba that earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. Spann submitted Cutelaba with a guillotine choke at UFC Vegas 54 in May.
With a record of 6-2 inside the octagon, Spann has been trading wins and losses through his past four fights.
UFC 281 is set to take place in Madison Square Garden in New York, NY on November 12, 2022. Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira is expected to headline. The following bouts have been reported for the event to date:
