The UFC has added middleweight action to their final card of October.
Georgia’s Roman Dolidze will face Phil Hawes (12-3) on October 29, 2022. The 185 pound match-up was first reported by Setanta Sport. Hawes later confirmed the match-up on social media.
Hawes was last seen in the octagon at UFC Austin, where he got the better of Deron Winn, putting his opponent away with elbows in the second round. Controversy erupted post-fight after Winn exchanged words with UFC broadcaster and former double-champ Daniel Cormier, a teammate of Winn’s; Hawes would later apologize, characterizing the incident as a misunderstanding.
After winning his way into the UFC on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020, Hawes has posted a 4-1 record in the promotion. He previously competed for the WSOF, Bellator, and Brave CF.
Dolidze (10-1) has secured back-to-back wins over Laureano Staropoli and Kyle Daukaus, the latter earning the Georgian a Performance of the Night bonus. He sports an identical 4-1 record to Hawes since joining the UFC in 2020.
