Bantamweights Douglas Silva de Andrade and Said Nurmagomedov both entered UFC Vegas 58 on two-fight wins streaks.
Both were also coming off post-fight bonus-winning efforts. Andrade had won Fight of the Night in his win against Sergey Morozov back in February, while Nurmagomedov earned a Performance of the Night bonus for his January submission of Cody Stamann.
Round one with Andrade landing a hard leg kick on Nurmagomedov who when they tried a spinning back kick but didn’t land clean. Andrade tried to clinch with Nurmagomedov, but couldn’t get the takedown. Nurmagomedov then threw Andrade to the ground and then allowed him to stand up to strike. Nurmagomedov let loose with strikes and cut Andrade open with a cut right above the left eye. Andrade wanted to close the distance and try to get the fight to the ground, but Nurmagomedov was able to hold him at bay with strikes.
Round two Nurmagomedov let loose landing seemingly any strike he wanted on Andrade. Andrade would try to get close but pay for it each time he even feinted. Nurmagomedov was just too long, quick and accurate for Andrade to land much. With just seconds left in the round Andrade was able to drop Nurmagomedov with a spinning backfist.
Round three was just a weird round overall with Nurmagomedov ending up on his back following a groin shot from Andrade. Andrade fired off kicks to the legs of Nurmagomedov. Herb Dean stood him up and forced the restart. Andrade began to land shots on Nurmagomedov on the fence. Fight ended with both men trading.
