Thiago Moises showcased his impressive grappling skills by quickly taking the back of Christos Giagos and choking him out on the main card of UFC Vegas 57.
Brazilian lightweight Thiago Moises looked to snap a two-fight skid and get back in the win column when he faced Christos Giagos on the UFC Vegas 57 main card on Saturday.
Moises’ two losses had come to Islam Makhachev and Joel Alvarez, so they were at least aging well. As for Giagos, he was coming off a loss at the hands of Arman Tsarukyan — who happened to be headlining Saturday’s Fight Night card.
Christos Giagos had the center of the Octagon first, but Moises quickly got a hold of him. Moises planned on grappling Giagos from the start and took advantage of the clinch, taking the back of Giagos after a single leg takedown. Moises was a bit high on the back of Giagos, but was able to adjust and establish his hooks. Giagos stood up and Moises backpacked him. Moises began trying to get an arm under the chin. He tried with his left hand, but Giagos resisted, so Moises slid the right arm under. Despite Giagos having wrist control on his left hand, Moises used his shoulder to lock up the rear-naked choke, getting the tap in round one.
