Bellator MMA returned to the Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, June 24 for their only card of the month — Bellator 282: Mousasi vs. Eblen.
A deep offering with solid match-ups throughout, the event was topped by a middleweight title fight featuring Gegard Mouasi, looking to defend his middleweight title for the third time. This time out, American Top Team’s Johnny Eblen was the underdog — a fighter who was just entering his teens when Mousasi turned pro.
Few people will ever hit Mousasi’s caliber of competition and experience in MMA, but Eblen was looking to prove he had the well-rounded game necessary to take out the legend. In the co-main event, meanwhile, a bantamweight grand prix quarterfinal saw motor-mouth Danny Sabatello looking to do away with Leandro Higo. “The Italian Gangster” has proven to have the best mic skills since Chael Sonnen, now he was looking to back up his words by putting away a tough Brazilian to claim a spot in the semifinals.
A second bantamweight grand prix quarterfinal on Friday saw Magomed Magomedov up against Enrique Barzola, while Brennan Ward returned, and Cat Zingano looked to secure a title shot against former Invicta FC champ Pam “Bam” Sorenson.
Full results from Bellator 282 can be found below. The action gets underway just shy of 6PM ET on Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The main card follows at 9PM. Prelims are above; where available, the main card can be streamed below.
