Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Phil Rowe will face off in a welterweight bout at UFC Long Island next month.
UFC officials recently added the match-up to the official line-up for the event, which takes place on July 16, 2022 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY.
Nurmagomedov (16-3-1) will be competing for the first time in 2022 in the fight, and looking to build on a win over Jared Gooden in May of 2021. That victory snapped a two-fight winless streak for the cousin of ex-lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov, which saw him lose a bout to David Zawada by submission, and fight to a draw with Bojan Veličković in the 2018 PFL quarterfinals.
Consistency, as that stretch should make clear, has been an issue for Nurmagomedov. After fighting just once in 2019, not at all in 2020, and once in 2021, he’ll have to once again shake off any ring rust that might have crept in during his time on the sidelines.
Rowe (9-3) enters the bout on a two-fight win streak, having picked up back-to-back TKO finishes against Orion Cosce and Jason Witt. The Witt fight, his most recent, came at UFC Vegas 47 in February.
