A major switch up for the UFC Paris card this September has left Manon Fiorot with a new opponent.
Originally scheduled to face Katlyn Chookagian at the event, France’s Fiorot (9-1) will instead take on former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade (23-9) in the fight. Fiorot confirmed the news on social media Wednesday, with an initial report by MMA Junkie suggesting verbal agreements were in place for the match-up.
The bout has also been added to the official UFC Paris fight card. Chookagian’s withdrawal from the fight is reportedly due to an undisclosed injury.
Fiorot has not lost a fight since her professional debut in 2018, and has won all four of her UFC contests to date. That stretch includes finishes in her first two fights inside the octagon. The French flyweight most recently picked up a decision win against former title challenger and Invicta FC champ Jennifer Maia.
Andrade had just recently returned to the strawweight division, notching a submission win over Amanda Lemos in April atop UFC Vegas 52. While it appeared she was going to stick around her told stomping grounds at 115 pounds, the Fiorot fight has lured her back to 125, where she made an unsuccessful bid for gold against Valentina Shevchenko last year.
UFC Paris takes place on September 3, 2022 at the Accor Arena in Paris, France. The show is expected to be headlined by French heavyweight Ciryl Gane taking on the ever-popular Tai Tuivasa.
The following bouts have been reported for the Fight Night card thus far:
- Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa
- Robert Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori
- Jéssica Andrade vs. Manon Fiorot
- Makhmud Muradov vs. Abusupiyan Magomedov
- Zarah Fairn Dos Santos vs. Ailin Perez
- Alessio Di Chirico vs. Roman Kopylov
