Welterweight action is the latest addition to the UFC’s August 6 Fight Night event.
Jason Witt (19-8) will meet Josh Quinlan (5-0, 1NC) at the event, expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cageside Press confirmed the booking with a source familiar with the situation following an initial report by Sherdog’s Tudor Leonte.
“The Vanilla Gorilla” Witt has been trading wins and losses through his five-fight UFC run thus far, and will be entering the octagon for the second time in 2022 in the fight. In his last outing, Witt suffered a TKO loss at the hands of Phil Rowe; prior to that, he had picked up a high-profile decision victory over Bryan “Bam Bam” Barberena.
Witt, 35, is a former KC Fighting Alliance welterweight champ, who defended that title several times.
Quinlan, meanwhile, enters the UFC by way of Dana White’s Contender Series — though he saw his win on the show overturned to a No Contest. That came after testing positive for drostanolone, an anabolic steroid, late last year. Following Quinlan’s positive test, he was suspended nine months, and fined just shy of $800 by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
The UFC’s August 6, 2022 Fight Night card is expected to be headlined by light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Jamahal Hill. The following bouts have been reported for the event to date:
- Thiago Santos vs. Jamahal Hill
- Miranda Granger vs. Cory McKenna
- Vicente Luque vs. Geoff Neal
- Terrance McKinney vs. Erick Gonzalez
- Sam Alvey vs. Michał Oleksiejczuk
- Augusto Sakai vs. Sergey Spivak
- Jason Witt vs. Josh Quinlan
