Bare Knuckle FC is pulling out all the stops for their debut in London, England.
On Thursday, BKFC officials announced that the main event of BKFC London in August would feature none other than Bellator MMA star Michael Page taking on former UFC standout Mike Perry. The event is set to take place at the OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
Page (20-2 MMA) has experience as both a kickboxer and boxer, but will be trying his hand at bare-knuckle boxing for the first time. “MVP” remains under contract with Bellator, and has been granted permission by the promotion to compete in the bare-knuckle realm.
Last seen at Bellator 281 in London, England last month, Page came up short against Logan Storley for the promotion’s interim welterweight title. The split decision result in that fight caused a bit of a stir, as Storley failed to do any damage despite landing numerous takedowns throughout the fight.
Page won’t have to worry about takedowns against “Platinum” Mike Perry. The controversial ex-UFC star is 1-0 under the BKFC banner, after winning a unanimous decision against TUF alum Julian Lane back in February. Perry also picked up a win late last year under Triller FC’s Triad Combat banner, giving him two combat sports wins since exiting the UFC in 2021 off back-to-back losses to Tim Means and Daniel Rodriguez.
In a press release issued Thursday, BKFC President David Feldman was quoted as saying that “This will be one of the biggest fights of the year, MVP versus Platinum Perry is truly a fan’s fight! Two guys that come forward and have power in both hands. I am very excited to make our BKFC debut in London with a fight of this magnitude. Fans of combat sports in the UK will truly enjoy this event, as well as around the world. Thanks to the Bellator Team for helping make this happen!”
