In August, a pair of UFC middleweights will look to get back in the win column.
AgFight was the first to report the news that Gerald Meerschaert will fight Bruno Silva on August 13 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Silva would later confirm the fight on his Instagram.
Meerschaert (34-15) will be competing in his 50th professional fight when he enters the octagon in July. GM3 had his three-fight win streak snapped last month when he lost a unanimous decision to Krzysztof Jotko at UFC on ESPN: Font vs. Vera. Prior to his recent loss, his three-fight win streak consisted of Dustin Stoltzfus, Makhmud Muradov, and Bartosz Fabiński, in which he finished all three.
Silva (22-7) suffered his first UFC loss in March when he lost a unanimous decision to Alex Pereira at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs. Ankalaev. The loss also snapped his seven-fight win streak, three of those coming in the UFC. The Brazilian fighter went 3-0 in 2021, knocking out Wellington Turman, Andrew Sanchez, and Jordan Wright, receiving Performance of the Night bonuses for two of them.
Silva posted on Instagram that several opponents turned him down, and because of that, he had to take a tough fight in Gerald Meerschaert.
The UFC’s August 13, 2022, Fight Night event does not currently have a venue, location, or broadcast plan reported.
The only other fight reported for the card thus far is Istela Nunes vs. Yazmin Jauregui.
