Two strawweights coming off their first UFC wins will collide later this month.
Multiple sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed to Cageside Press that Sam Hughes will fight Elise Reed at UFC Vegas 55 on May 21.
With her back firmly against the wall last month and her job on the line, Hughes (6-4) came up with a massive win against Istela Nunes at UFC Vegas 51, defeating her opponent via majority decision. Hughes picked up her first UFC win while snapping her three-fight losing streak, which saw her lose to Luana Pinheiro, Loma Lookboonmee, and Tecia Torres.

Like her opponent, Reed (5-1) picked up her first UFC win recently. She defeated Cory McKenna at UFC London in March via split decision. The former CFFC strawweight champion lost her UFC debut when she fought up a weight division, something she told Cageside Press that she doesn’t plan on doing ever again.
The UFC’s May 21, 2022 event is expected to take place at the UFC Apex. No broadcast plan has been announced as of yet.
