Blake Perry wants a Bellator contract after defeating Makoa Cooper last weekend.
It was quite the professional debut for Perry (1-0) at Bellator 278. He kicked off Bellator’s two-night Hawaiian homestand by defeating Hawaii’s very own Cooper in a come-from-behind victory.
After losing the first round, Perry submitted Cooper with an anaconda choke to pick up a win in his professional debut as well as his Bellator debut.
“It didn’t start off great. He’s a tough dude, man, you know. So, yeah, it was a little bit of a rough start. But to be completely honest, that’s how a lot of my fights go. I think there are more fights than not that I’ve won, but I’ve looked terrible after,” Perry told Cageside Press in an exclusive interview. “But it’s more about how you finish than how you start. So, it wasn’t the prettiest thing, but my fights usually are not. So it’s all good.”
Perry was a +700 underdog going into his fight with Cooper. When asked if he told his friends to bet on him, “hell yeah,” he did, and he is waiting for a check from his friends.
“Hell yeah, I did, bro. Yeah, I got quite a few buddies that put a little something down on me. And weirdly enough, I haven’t gotten any checks in the mail from any of my friends. So I don’t know what the hell’s up with that. I don’t know if it got lost in the mail or what’s up, but I’m still waiting on that,” Perry joked. “But yeah, I had I heard the betting odds were heavily not in my favor. So I told them if there’s a fight to bet on, this is the one because why not?”
The 27-year-old did not talk to any Bellator officials after his fight, but he wants to fight for the promotion again. He said with his come-from-behind win; it just makes sense.
“Bellator just did a quick little interview with me. But other than that, I’m waiting to hear from them. Bellator hit me up, man! I’m trying to fight for them. I want to fight for them again. That was an awesome experience and, obviously, a badass promotion, and I want to fight for them again. I would love to, and I don’t see a reason why not if I say so myself. So, yeah, I’d love to come back if they’ll have me,” Perry said.
