“Y’all watch me choke my chicken in Austin, TX on June 18th!!!!!!” UFC star Kevin Holland wrote on social media site Instagram Friday morning.
And just like that, Holland (22-7, 1NC), now competing as a welterweight, had announced his next fight. Tagging the post with references to the “dirty bird,” an accompanying video revealed that Holland’s next opponent would be Tim Means (32-12-1, 1NC).
“Big Mouth” then proceeded to choke out Big Bird, in an unfortunate case of mistaken identity.
Holland is clearly winning at the fight announcement game. Ahead of his match-up with Alex Oliveira, he took a similar route, announcing the fight on horseback in a nod to the Brazilian “Cowboy.” Holland would go on to win the fight at UFC 272 last month, finishing Oliveira with elbows in the second round.
It was a successful return to welterweight for Holland, who had spent the entirety of his UFC career at middleweight to that point.
Veteran Means has won three straight fights, notching wins over Laureano Staropoli, Mike Perry, and Nicolas Dalby. The 38-year old had teased a “fan-friendly” fight was incoming earlier this month. The match-up with Holland definitely fits the bill.
