ONE Championship has added two more match-ups to May’s ONE 157 card.
On Friday, ONE officials announced on social media that with “Reug Reug” out, heavyweight Marcus Buchecha (2-0) will now face Hugo Cunha (6-1) at the event on May 20. In women’s atomweight action, meanwhile, Invicta FC veteran Alyse Anderson (5-2) will face Asha Roka (4-2).
Buchecha, properly Marcus Almeida, was expected to face Oumar “Reug Reug” Kane at ONE 156 earlier this month. With the Senegalese wrestler injured, however, he will now look for his third win as a pro opposite Brazil’s Cunha one event later.
A decorated world champion in jiu-jitsu, Buchecha last competed in December, where he submitted South Korean Ji Won Kang.
Cunha, a highly-touted heavyweight prospect, made his debut for ONE Championship in February, only to lose a split decision against Dustin Joynson. The setback was the first loss of Cunha’s professional career.
Alyse Anderson, meanwhile, was part of the ONE women’s atomweight grand prix last year. She was bounced from the tournament in the opening round by Japanese standout Itsuki Hirata, and has not competed since. A pro since 2015, Anderson went 2-1 under the Invicta FC banner prior to joining ONE Championship.
India’s Roka will look to snap a two-fight skid against the American atomweight.
ONE 157 takes place on Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
