Commerce, CA — LFA bantamweight and Ultimate Fighter alum Dan Argueta is hot pursuit of Legacy Fighting Alliance gold these days.
“I’m ready to chase down that title. I want the title. I want to have some hardware before I get to the big show,” he told Cageside Press recently, in an exclusive interview backstage at LFA 127 in Commerce, California. “I’m cool with it, I like it. I’ve never been the champ. I’ve never been the champ before.”
“This is new for me, and I’m excited,” Argueta (7-0) added. “I’m finally at the point of my life where I’m putting everything on the line. I’m doing everything correctly.”
Of course, he’s been doing everything correctly for a while. “Since I was an amateur, I trained for every fight like it was a world championship fight. I’ve got to remember that, I’ve got to stay true to that,” Argueta noted. With that in mind, being in a promotion like LFA, where the call up to the big show could come at any moment, “It doesn’t bug. It doesn’t bug, I’ve been doing that work already. Now, let’s see how much harder I can push it. Let’s see what else I can do to change up my style, my camp, me as a total athlete.”
With two wins since his experience on The Ultimate Fighter 29, Argueta is in a good place. Right where he needs to be, it seems.
“People don’t lie when they say this job is like a roller coaster. I have my ups and downs all the time, and right now, I feel like I’m living in a movie,” he admitted. “I feel like I’m living in a movie, I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. LFA has helped me grow so much, and the fact that I have that luxury of having another fight with LFA before I take that next step, it’s great. It’s great. You don’t get to take those steps backwards once you’re in the UFC. So let me get all those learning curves, let me figure it out, let me get my fight IQ even higher before I get there. I want to be there to stay.”
