Las Vegas, NV — Khalil Rountree would like to act again after starring in his first movie.
Rountree (9-5-1) is a professional cage fighter, of course, and now an actor as well. He starred in the upcoming movie Lord of the Streets, which will be released this summer. The movie also features former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Rampage Jackson.
At UFC Vegas 50 media day, Rountree explained how he got the role.
“Yeah, so I acted in my first movie a few months ago. It was awesome. I had just got a direct message from an acquaintance that had run into some directors at a bar, and they were making an MMA movie. Somehow my name got brought up in the conversation, and I got asked to audition, so I did. Right after the audition, they were like; we’re not going to waste time, we want you to have the part.’ I had never acted in my life or even knew it was something that I wanted to do, but it was really enjoyable,” Rountree told Cageside Press during UFC Vegas 50 media day. “One of the coolest things was that I got to do it alongside some of MMA’s biggest names, Anderson Silva, Rampage Jackson, Cheick Kongo, Rigan Machado, I mean there is so many of us in the movie. It’s going to be very exciting to see it on the big screen. See myself doing something other than fighting on a big screen; it’s a really cool thing to think about.”
Rountree enjoyed the process and wants to act again if given a chance.
“It was so cool. It was amazing. Just being on set, studying my lines in my trailer, thinking that I have to get into character and remember all of these lines. Just the people and the atmosphere of the set and crew was amazing, so yeah, I enjoyed it; it was really cool,” Rountree said. “Yeah, I would love to [act again]. I would definitely love to. Yeah.”
Before the former The Ultimate Fighter finalist gets to act again, he has a fight this weekend against Karl Roberson, who is moving up to the light heavyweight division.
