Terrance McKinney is wasting no time getting back to work following a first-round submission of Fares Ziam last weekend.
On Friday, UFC officials announced that McKinney (12-3) would be stepping in to replace Ricky Glenn against Drew Dober at UFC Vegas 50. The Fight Night card takes place in just over a week’s time, at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 12.
Glenn recently revealed on the VegasOdds Podcast that he’d been forced out of the bout. That’s due to a torn groin muscle, with Glenn hoping to return to action this summer.
The two-week turnaround will find McKinney, a.k.a. “T-Wrecks,” looking to extend his hot street to six straight wins. Posting five consecutive victories since a loss to Darrick Minner on the regional scene in 2019, McKinney has won his first two UFC bouts to date.
Most recently came the Ziam submission at UFC Vegas 49, with a rear-naked choke putting the French fighter away. More impressively, McKinney has finished all five of the fights on his current win streak within a round — including a lightweight record-setting seven second KO of Matt Frevola last year.
Dober (23-11, 1NC) has lost back-to-back fights in the lightweight division, albeit against some very tough competition. He’ll be fighting for the first time in 2022, after coming up short against Islam Makhachev and Brad Riddell last year.
UFC Vegas 50 is expected to be headlined by a light heavyweight bout featuring Thiago Santos going up against the surging Magomed Ankalaev. The following match-ups have been reported for the card thus far:
