Houston, TX – Putting together an incredible performance in what turned out to be the Fight Of The Night earning him a bonus was what UFC bantamweight Douglas Silva de Andrade was fighting for.
In his post-fight interview at UFC 271 Silva de Andrade asked Dana White for two bonuses; one for fight of the night and the other a performance bonus. Two bonuses would get the 135er 100k.
“If I got both bonus I’m going to give the best life for my mom. I want to get off the rental and buy my house. I just got a baby that’s what I’m here to get both bonus to give a better life for my parents and for my kid,” Silva de Andrade said through a translator at his post-fight media scrum.
Silva de Andrade became visibly emotional when asked about what part his mother plays in his life and career.
“She’s everything in my life. She got a hard life to do the support for me, for my sister, it’s very tough to be here. And they say how big she is for me. I can’t explain with words how she is for me.”
Also in his post-fight interview Silva de Andrade called out Sean O’Malley for his next bout.
“I like his style, his fight style. His hype is so nice I think he’s going to be a good fight for me with all due respect. I respect him a lot, but I’m from the jungle. He has no chance with me.”
