Las Vegas-based Xtreme Couture is in mourning following the tragic passing of coach Tim Lane.
Lane’s death was confirmed Friday, just days after the longtime coach and fitness expert was reported missing by his family. Xtreme Couture head coach Eric Nicksick confirmed Lane’s passing in a post on social media.
“I apologize if this isn’t the classy way of explaining things,” Nicksick wrote, before revealing that a search party of over 30 members had been hoping to find Lane alive in the Nevada wilderness. Unfortunately, authorities confirmed that a body recovered from Nevada’s Mount Charleston was Lane.
While not officially confirmed by authorities, Nicksick indicated that Lane had taken his own life.
“This is another friend and a coach who’s taken his life, and this sh*t gets heavy, man. This sh*t’s too soon and I don’t understand a lot of this stuff and the reasons why, but please make sure you tell your loved ones that you love them and check in on people. I wish I was better at this sh*t and knew what to say. Love you guys.”
A day prior, Lane’s wife had used his Instagram account to ask followers to help find her husband. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department noted that Lane “might possibly be in severe emotional distress and in need of medical assistance.”
Lane’s car was found in the Mount Charleston area on Wednesday.
In 2017, Xtreme Couture also lost coach Robert Follis to suicide. Less than five years later, they’ve lost another family member. Lane was just 49 years old.
RIP Coach Tim. I was fortunate enough to interact with him multiple times at XC, and he always had a smile and so much enthusiasm every day. https://t.co/tHedybjsJg
