Macy Chiasson will stick with the women’s featherweight division when she faces Norma Dumont as part of the UFC’s return to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Dumont confirmed the booking, and location, on social media Friday, following an initial report by MMA Fighting. The event is set to be the promotion’s second international card of 2022, with UFC London in March the first.
While no venue or location has been officially announced by the promotion, the expected Rio card will take place on May 7, 2022.
Ultimate Fighter 28 winner Macy Chiasson (7-2) initially dropped to 135lbs after winning the show as a featherweight in 2018. She ran up a 4-1 record in the bantamweight division, before returning to featherweight in December— only to miss weight for her 145lb contest against Raquel Pennington.
To make matters worse, Chiasson lost the fight, finding herself submitted via guillotine choke in the second round.
Dumont (7-1) is 2-1 in the UFC’s featherweight division, and 3-1 inside the octagon overall. The Brazilian fighter’s only loss came to former Invicta FC featherweight champ and former UFC title challenger Megan Anderson, back in 2019 at UFC Norfolk. Since that loss she has won three straight, though she did miss weight for the lone bantamweight bout in that win streak. That miss, and a second that led to the cancellation of a fight with Erin Blanchfield, necessitated Dumont’s return to featherweight.
Last time out, Norma Dumont took home a unanimous decision win against Aspen Ladd.
No other fights have been reported for the UFC’s return to Rio, Brazil on May 7.
