Another addition has been revealed for the UFC’s April 23, 2022 Fight Night card.
That comes in the form of lightweight action, as veteran Clay Guida (37-21) is set to take on Claudio Puelles (11-2). Iridium Sports Agency, who represent Puelles, confirmed the booking Friday following an initial report by Chilean media outlet Fordewin.
Guida is fresh off a come from behind victory against Leonardo Santos that was among the candidates up for 2021 Comeback of the Year. “The Carpenter” ate a buffet of knees and other strikes in the opening round, before getting the upper hand in the second and submitting Santos.
The win improved Guida to 2-1 in his last three fights.
Puelles, a native of Peru, has won four straight bouts inside the octagon, against increasingly difficult competition. Last time out, he submitted Chris Gruetzemacher via kneebar. Puelles has one Performance of the Night bonus, for another kneebar submission against Felipe Silva, during his current win streak.
Clay Guida will represent yet another step up for the Peruvian fighter.
The UFC’s April 23 Fight Night event does not yet have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced. To date, one other fight has been reported for the card. That fight will see welterweights Louis Cosce and Preston Parsons collide.
