Dern (11-2) is looking to regain momentum and return to title contention after recently having a four fight win-streak snapped last October. After posting an impressive 3-0 run to put her in consideration for the 2020 Female Fighter of the Year award, Dern split a pair of fights in 2021 in stopping Nina Nunes and losing a decision to fellow top contender Marina Rodriguez.
Torres (13-5) is looking to make a breakthrough and record a fourth consecutive UFC victory for the first time since joining the promotion in 2014. After going on an 0-4 skid, “The Tiny Tornado” has had a career resurgence since 2020 in going 3-0 with victories over Angela Hill, Sam Hughes, and Brianna Van Buren. Torres has not fought since last August where she defeated Hill by unanimous decision.
The event is expected to be headlined by the featherweight championship bout between Alexander Volkanovski and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. While originally expected to take place in Brooklyn, New York, it has been reported that the UFC is exploring other locations for the event.
