Kevin Holland has announced that he will be making his welterweight debut on March 05 against veteran Alex Oliveira at UFC 272.
One of the UFC’s most popular up-and-comers is making the move to welterweight. Kevin Holland announced on his Onlyfans that he will be moving down to 170 pounds to take on Alex Oliveira on March 05.
Holland (21-7) is looking to showcase an improved skillset at a lower weight class when he makes his return. After a breakout year in 2020 with five victories in the calendar year, “Trailblazer” went 0-2-1 in being routed by Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori. In his last fight, he was badly injured by an accidental headbutt before being submitted by Kyle Daukaus in the first round of their fight in October. The nature and impact of the blow on the fight led to the fight being ruled a No Contest. Holland had discussed a move down to welterweight prior to the bout.
Oliveira (22-11) is looking to get back in the win-column following an 0-3 skid in his last three bouts. A veteran of the UFC since 2015, “Cowboy” is one of the more seasoned contenders in the division with over 30 professional bouts. Oliveira competed on the same night as Holland, losing earlier in the night to Niko Price by unanimous decision.
No headliner for the bout has been confirmed as reports as title bouts for the second quarter of the year are still being finalized. The event is expected to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
