Michael “Venom” Page will finally get his title shot when Bellator MMA returns to London, England later this year.
Multiple sources, speaking on the condition of anonymity, have confirmed to Cageside Press that Bellator will be returning to London this May. The promotion is targeting a welterweight title fight in the main event, with Yaroslav Amosov expected to defend his 170lb title for the first time against MVP.
The card is expected to be held at the SSE Arena, Wembley in London, England on May 13.
Yaroslav Amosov (26-0) has been a force to be reckoned with since joining the organization in 2018. He is 6-0 in the promotion thus far, with wins over Ed Ruth, Mark Lemminger, and Logan Storley. In his most recent outing, he thoroughly dominated Douglas Lima at Bellator 260 to win the Welterweight Championship.
Since losing for the first time in his professional career, against Douglas Lima back in 2019, Michael Page (20-1) has been on a roll, finishing four of his next six opponents by knockout or TKO. He went 2-0 in 2021, avenging his lone loss as a pro. At Bellator 258, Page finished Derek Anderson via doctor stoppage when he landed a nasty kick and broke Anderson’s nose. In the highly anticipated rematch with Lima at Bellator 267, MVP defeated his rival via split decision in his hometown of London.
Despite later campaigning for a third fight with Lima, the 34-year old will be returning to that same arena to instead challenge for the title.
This will be Bellator’s second show in London since the global pandemic arrived roughly two years ago. A May 2020 event in London, also at the SSE Arena, was cancelled as a result of COVID-19 restrictions.
No other fights for the promotion’s return to the British capital have been reported at the moment. Bellator is set to kick off their 2022 schedule later this month, with Bellator 273 taking place in Phoenix, AZ.
