Dusko Todorovic showed his skills on the ground, quickly moving to mount and taking the back of Maki Pitolo to earn a first-round stoppage at UFC Vegas 44.
The featured preliminary card bout at UFC Vegas 44 on Saturday found middleweights Maki Pitolo and Dusko Todorovic seemingly fighting for their jobs. Pitolo entered the night off three straight losses, while Todorovic had lost two straight. That put both of these Dana White’s Contender Series alums in must-win territory.
Todorovic showed off his range with a long head kick to start the fight. Pitolo went low with a kick of his own and Todorovic shot for a takedown in response and Pitolo defended. Combinations were traded then Pitolo landed a right hand followed by a leg kick. Todorovic landed a left hand then shot for a takedown, but landed right in a guillotine attempt. Todorovic escaped the submission and established top control. After some time in full guard peppering Pitolo with punches, Todorovic quickly moved to half guard then mount. Pitolo spun around, giving up his back and Todorovic rained down bombs from the back. Pitolo wasn’t able to defend and the referee stopped the fight in the first round.
