Light heavyweight Jamahal Hill returned to the octagon at UFC Vegas 44 for the first time since a nasty-looking dislocated arm suffered in his fight with Paul Craig earlier this year.
Opponent Jimmy Crute was returning from a fight that ended in injury as well, after a compromised leg ended his night against Anthony Smith early.
Someone was bound to have better luck on Saturday. Someone did.
Crute fired a kick early, but he was the one getting clipped and dropped care of a right hook shortly after. As bad as it looked, Crute was quickly back to his senses. Not for long though. After a failed takedown attempt, moments later, Hill dropped Crute again! The same punch, and this time, Hill moved in and landed the follow-up shot the put Crute away for good. The ref came in for the save, and for good reason.

With the victory, Jamahal Hill improves to 3-1 inside the octagon, with one no contest. “I just wanted to come out and show myself, be myself, put all that other stuff to the side,” Hill said following the victory. Hill certainly showed that he has what it takes to be a threat to the light heavyweight division moving forward.
Official Result: Jamahal Hill def. Jimmy Crute by knockout, Round 1, 0:48
