Former UFC star Luis Pena has once again landed in jail.
Pena’s latest arrest occurred Monday, and saw him taken into custody by Deerfield Beach, Florida police, according to online arrest records. News of Pena’s most recent run-in with the law was first reported by TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter.
The Ultimate Fighter alum is currently being held at the Paul Rein Detention Facility on charges of misdemeanor battery, battery causing bodily harm, battery domestic violence, and criminal mischief. Total bail for the charges has been set at $6000 — $5000 for the battery causing bodily harm charge, and an additional $1000 for the domestic violence count.
Back in June, Pena was taken into custody on battery and robbery by sudden snatching charges. Still a UFC athlete at the time, the fighter stated he was seeking treatment for mental health issues. It was later reported that the case stemmed from an incident where he had smashed his partner’s phone.
In October, a second alleged domestic violence incident led to Pena’s release from the UFC.
According to TSN’s initial report, the current charges relate to activity outside Broward County, where the Paul Rein Detention Facility is located. It’s unclear whether there’s any connection to Pena’s previous incidents.
Pena (9-3) last competed in April of this year, defeating Alex Munoz at UFC Vegas 24. The lanky lightweight had been with the organization since 2018, posting a 5-3 record during that span.
