After winning his way into the UFC care of the Contender Series last year, featherweight Collin Anglin had dropped his debut to highly touted prospect Melsik Baghdasaryan.
For his sophomore effort, he was paired up against another promising up-and-comer in Sean Woodson, part of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 42 preliminary card.
A touch of gloves from the pair of featherweights started the fight; a 1-2 from Woodson landed, and Anglin rushed him, throwing a kick. A front kick and calf kick from the towering Woodson landed, and Anglin hit home with a hook in response.
Both men exchanged combos. About midway through the round, Anglin shot for a takedown, but Woodson defended. Anglin kept throwing wild punches, but nothing landed. Woodson kept chopping Anglin down. Another 1-2 from Woodson was followed by a body shot, and Anglin covered up. Woodson landed another body shot that hurt Anglin; he then threw yet another one that dropped Anglin, which forced Herb Dean to jump in.
Just slick body work from Woodson.
