Undefeated welterweight prospect Roman Faraldo returns to action at Bellator 271 on Friday.
The Florida-based fighter won his first two fights under the Bellator banner, finishing both within the distance. Against Robert Turnquest on the preliminary card Friday, Faraldo will be facing his most experienced opponent to date.
“I’m super-exited to be back. Always looking forward to a challenge. With Robert, he definitely has more experience, but I’m always up to it, I’m improving every day,” Faraldo (5-0) told Cageside Press during a media day promoting the event. “So super-excited to be here and ready to perform.”
Faraldo, who trains out of ATT, hasn’t been focused on any one area of his game ahead of this one, instead concentrating on improving his overall skill set. “Honestly just improving, becoming more well-rounded, filling the gaps,” he replied when asked about his focus in training camp. “It’s great that I have American Top Team and I have so many different, diverse training partners. You can always find somebody that’s one of the best in the world whether it’s jiu-jitsu, wrestling, sambo, judo, striking, we have it all over there. Super blessed to be there and be able to just improve my game in every way.”
Having run up a strong start in his career, Faraldo’s return comes with a certain level of expectation. “There’s definitely pressure, I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t pressure but it just comes with the territory,” he told us. “You gotta expect it.”
Faraldo’s approach is to just take it as it comes. “At the end of the day we’re fighting, the odds might be swayed one way or the other but it’s two guys getting in there, anything can happen so you just go in there and prepare as well as you can, and let the chips fall where they do. That’s basically how you do it. It’s Max Holloway, it is what it is.”
