It’s not often the consensus most anticipated fight of the evening is the first fight on the PPV card. So when Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler square off to kick off the PPV portion of UFC 268, it’s bound to be an interesting dynamic. It’ll be a different pace to start things off, and perhaps it’ll be a welcomed one. It will be interesting to see how different it feels having a large surge of excitement from the crowd so early on in the night.
Gaethje and Chandler are in the small percentile of fighters in the sport that truly have no qualms about stepping right into the pocket, staying there, and not leaving until they either knock someone out or get knocked out themselves. Neither are overly vocal outside of the octagon, yet they garner a whole lot of attention and respect amongst the fanbase for having the courage to fight the way they do.
The fanbase has been let down in the past by fights that promised excitement and delivered a dud. But Gaethje and Chandler simply don’t have it in them to not put on an exciting fight. Without question, they will provide a memorable contest, whether it’s a long drawn-out war, or over in 30 seconds.
