ONE Championship saw their women’s atomweight grand prix continue at Friday’s ONE: NextGen card in Singapore.
The semifinal round saw two fan favorites move forward in the tournament. On one side of the bracket, Indian wrestling powerhouse Ritu Phogat survived multiple illegal upkicks against Jenelyn Olsim to advance to the grand prix final. On the opposite side, Muay Thai expert Stamp Fairtex got the better of Julie Mezabarba.
Both Olsim and Mezabarba had stepped into the grand prix as alternates, replacing Itsuki Hirata and Seo Hee Ham, respectively. The final is expected to go down this December.
ONE: NextGen also saw heavyweight Kirill Grishenko defeat Canada’s Dustin Joynson via unanimous decision after going the full three rounds. The fighter from Belarus remained perfect with the win, and is now 5-0 overall in his MMA career.
