Mason Jones is staying on the UFC Vegas 41 card after all.
MMA DNA was first to report the news that Jones will be fighting David Onama this weekend at UFC Fight Night: Costa vs. Vettori. Both fighters would confirm the booking on social media. Jones was scheduled to rematch Alan Patrick; however, Patrick pulled out of the fight last week.
Jones (10-1) had his UFC debut spoiled by Mike Davis at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Magny on ‘Fight Island’ in January. He would lose a unanimous decision but be awarded ‘Fight of the Night.’ Before his loss, “The Dragon” was undefeated and a former two-division champion for Cage Warriors, a feat that only Conor McGregor and Dan Hardy had managed before him.
Onama (7-0) is coming off a win at Fighting Alliance Championship 10. He fought Brad Robison on October 8 and knocked him out in a little over two minutes. Onama has six finishes in his seven wins and will be the first Ugandese born fighter in the UFC.
UFC Fight Night: Costa vs. Vettori goes down this Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori will headline the event and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
